Drinking Water Services
The City of Georgetown obtains untreated raw water primarily from the Pee Dee River. Water from ground water wells is used as a back-up source. Present capacity allows for the filtration of up to 6 million gallons per day of raw water.
Untreated raw water is processed by the city’s water filtration plant and delivered to users through the potable water distributation system. Treated water meets or exceeds all potable water standards set by the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control. Treated water quality is listed in the Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), which is published on an annual basis.
The City of Georgetown produces a Source Water Assessment Report (SWAR) in compliance with the EPA Safe Drinking Water Act and coordinated in South Carolina by DHEC. Each SWAR contains important information about the drinking-water source and how susceptible it may be to contamination.
