The City of Georgetown will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 5:30 PM in the Municipal Court Courtroom located at 2222 Highmarket Street, Georgetown, SC.

The purpose of the Public Hearing will be to receive citizen input and discuss the proposed Historic District Water System Improvements Project to be funded by a State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan. Discussion will include the need for the project, alternatives evaluated, the rationale for the selected alternative and the environmental and financial impacts of the selected alternative. Comments from the general public will be received at this time.

The project area is located in the City’s Historic District on the following streets: Church Street, Screven Street, Highmarket Street, Meeting Street, Howard Street, Front Street, East Bay Street, and River Road.   The City plans to replace approximately 8,700 linear feet of existing mains with new 6-inch PVC water lines.  Sidewalk and street asphalt restoration is included in this project.  The existing lines consist of primarily undersized cast iron pipes that have reached its utility life.  The new water lines will address water quality complaints and improve water pressure and flow in the area.  There are no adverse environmental impacts associated with this project.

The Regular Meeting of City Council will follow.
