PUBLIC NOTICE

Georgetown City Council will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 5:30 PM in the Municipal Courtroom located at 2222 Highmarket Street, Georgetown, SC.

The purpose of the Public Hearing will be to receive citizen input concerning:

  • an ordinance to establish an application fee for administration of the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program;
  • an ordinance to adopt the South Carolina Department of Public Safety’s wrecker fee schedule, as amended annually;
  • the proposed Historic District Water System Improvements Project to be funded by a State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan.

The Regular Meeting of City Council will follow.

Drainage Phase I Work to Continue- Street Closures will begin April 30, 2018

Please be advised that effective April 30, 2018, Green Wave Contracting will continue with the drainage Phase I work (Stage 3) by closing the intersection of N. Congdon Street and Highmarket Street as well as the eastbound lanes on Highmarket Street from N. Congdon Street to Lynch Street for approximately 6 weeks.

 

 

Public Hearing on 5/17/2018 – Historic District Water System Improvements Project

HISTORIC DISTRICT WATER SYSTEM

IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT #1501

 

The City of Georgetown will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 5:30 PM in the Municipal Court Courtroom located at 2222 Highmarket Street, Georgetown, SC.

 

The purpose of the Public Hearing will be to receive citizen input and discuss the proposed Historic District Water System Improvements Project to be funded by a State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan. Discussion will include the need for the project, alternatives evaluated, the rationale for the selected alternative and the environmental and financial impacts of the selected alternative. Comments from the general public will be received at this time.

 

The project area is located in the City’s Historic District on the following streets: Church Street, Screven Street, Highmarket Street, Meeting Street, Howard Street, Front Street, East Bay Street, and River Road.   The City plans to replace approximately 8,700 linear feet of existing mains with new 6-inch PVC water lines.  Sidewalk and street asphalt restoration is included in this project.  The existing lines consist of primarily undersized cast iron pipes that have reached its utility life.  The new water lines will address water quality complaints and improve water pressure and flow in the area.  There are no adverse environmental impacts associated with this project.

PUBLIC NOTICE – Removal of Old Maryville Water Tank

The City of Georgetown Water Utilities Department will be removing the Water Tank located on Beck Street the week of April 30th.

Please note a small portion of Beck Street around the tank will be restricted to one travel lane during the demolition period.
